Twins of Evil. Uk Prime Minister David Cameron and American President Barack Obama plan Syria regime change
UK Prime Minister David Cameron and American President Barack Obama plan Syria regime change

Remember the non-existent weapons of mass destruction which led to a devastating war in Iraq, over half a million Iraqis dead, and the oilfields of Iraq in the hands of Western corporations? Remember the bombing of Libya which was allegedly to protect Libyan people from former leader Colonel Gaddafi who was supposed to be using rape as a weapon, a country that coincidentally has its resources bargained off to Western corporations? Remember General Wesley Clark, stating that in 2001 he received a memo describing how America was going to take out seven countries in five years, Syria being one of them? If you remember all of this then you will not be surprised that America, Britain and its allies are going to invade Syria under the pretext of preventing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s military forces from killing their own people. The lies and violence that the West has sown in the Middle East will some day be reaped on our doorsteps and we will not be able to claim ignorance.

The drums of war beats once more as America and its allies prepare to attack Syria. Informed citizens would have heard it all before from the corporate-controlled media that a leader in a far-off non-white land is butchering his people and ‘we’, usually meaning the so-called civilised West must act and intervene for the sake of humanity and Western values.

The problem with this script however, is that it has been used before, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and now Syria; and repeatedly the claims have been discredited upon objective analysis by independent reporters or sources.

In Iraq, we now that know there were no weapons of mass destruction, but there were great rewards for Western energy corporations. Coincidence? Unlikely. (Read The greatest spin story ever told: Obama’s Iraq withdrawal speech)

In Afghanistan, the supposed hideout of Osama Bin Laden and  al-Qaeda, is it a coincidence that the New York Times reported in June 2010, that the region is said to possess untapped mineral reserves, estimated to be of the order of one trillion dollars, according to a joint report by the Pentagon, the US Geological Survey and USAID? Very unlikely.

In Libya, the media perpetrated blatant lies about its former leader Colonel Gaddafi, regarding war crimes and the use of rape as a weapon.  In fact, it was NATO forces that used chemical weapons against innocent civilians according to the evidence, and Amnesty International found no evidence that Gaddafi’s forces committed mass rapes. (Read NATO commits war crimes in Libya: Women and children murdered and Libya Update: No evidence of rape says Amnesty International.

Remarkably, Western governments could not disguise their barefaced greed at a “Friends of Libya” conference held in Paris to divide Libya’s resources up just as they did with Iraq. (Read The Western looting of Libya’s resources begins)

In the same articles I have provided links to above you will find that the so-called opposition groups in these countries are funded by Western countries. How anyone can take any media story seriously in light of the overwhelming evidence that all of these conflicts are staged take some understanding.

According to Washingtons Blog, AFP reports: (Experts Doubt Syrian Chemical Weapons Claims: August 23: 2013)

“At the moment, I am not totally convinced because the people that are helping them are without any protective clothing and without any respirators,” said Paula Vanninen, director of Verifin, the Finnish Institute for Verification of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

“In a real case, they would also be contaminated and would also be having symptoms.”

John Hart, head of the Chemical and Biological Security Project at Stockholm International Peace Research Institute said he had not seen the telltale evidence in the eyes of the victims that would be compelling evidence of chemical weapons use.

“Of the videos that I’ve seen for the last few hours, none of them show pinpoint pupils… this would indicate exposure to organophosphorus nerve agents,” he said.

Gwyn Winfield, editor of CBRNe World magazine, which specialises in chemical weapons issues, said the evidence did not suggest that the chemicals used were of the weapons-grade that the Syrian army possesses in its stockpiles.

“We’re not seeing reports that doctors and nurses… are becoming fatalities, so that would suggest that the toxicity of it isn’t what we would consider military sarin. It may well be that it is a lower-grade,” Winfield told AFP.”

The report cites expert after expert refuting any claims of a chemical attack on innocent civilians by President Bashar al-Assad’s forces.

Burying our heads in the sand will no longer save us

We can refuse to act because at this moment these conflicts do not affect us personally. We can claim ignorance despite the fact that simple deductive reasoning would draw the same conclusions over and over and over again, that Western countries still practise imperialism on a global scale but have come up with new justifications to plunder the resources of other nations. We can pretend that Muslims and Islam are the problem to ignore the clear facts that these conflicts are about resources. President Obama’s former pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright said in a sermon after the September 11 attacks in 2001, that “…America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”

He simply meant that the conflicts and wars that America had sown all over the world had come home to haunt them, and Britain’s chickens are already coming home to roost as we saw with the horrific attack on 25-year-old, Lee Rigby, a member of 2nd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, who was hacked to death by two Muslim men on the streets Woolwich in front of eyewitnesses.

Michael Adeboloja, one of the murderers of Lee Rigby told witnesses to the brutal murder they witnessed:

“…I apologise that women have had to witness this today, but in our land our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your Government, they don’t care about you.”

“You think David Cameron is going to get caught in the street when we start bussin’ our guns? You think politicians are going to die?

“No it’s going to be the average guy, like you, and your children.

“So get rid of them. Tell them to bring our troops back so you can all live in peace.” (Read  Woolwich Suspect ‘Handed Out Radical Leaflets‘)

This harrowing threat should remind us that turning our heads away from the suffering caused by the governments we live under is putting our lives at risk, the lives of our families at risk and our loved ones.

English philosopher Edmund Burke said, ‘The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing.’

Evil has triumphed in this world because ordinary people have turned a blind eye to the atrocities carried out by their governments.  We seem to take comfort in the false security of the West’s military dominance over the rest of the world and think that it will never affect us but sooner or later the chickens will come home to roost in the West, just as other empires have fallen because of their pursuit of greed; and when this happens it will be ordinary people who will pay the price. Just as ordinary people paid the price for two bloody World Wars, and ordinary people pay the price for the conflicts and gluttonous appetite of the Western corporate world.
