This is a memo that describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.” (General Wesley Clark, speaking in a Democracy Now interview with Amy Goodman about how he received instructions in 2001 that the US military was planning to attack Syria).

Regular readers of this website will have remembered the shocking statement above made by former NATO Commander Chief General Wesley Clark admitting that America planned war on countries in the Middle East and Africa ten years before the so called ‘Arab Uprisings’.

Conveniently, the U.S and its allies invaded Iraq under the pretext that Saddam Hussein was building weapons of mass destruction, and by the time the mainstream media declared that there were no weapons of mass destruction; approximately 654,965 Iraqis died between March, 2003, and July, 2006 according to the scientific journal, The Lancet.

Conveniently, the U.S. and its allies planted their own puppet leader and government to run Iraq. Conveniently, the Iraqi oil resources provided lucrative contracts for western energy corporations who now own the resources of Iraq. The U.S and its allies claimed that former Libyan leader, Colonel Muamar Gaddafi was killing his own people in an uprising against him. In March, 2011, the U.S. and its allies invaded Libya under a humanitarian pretext. NATO dropped over forty-five 2,000 pound bombs with depleted uranium warheads on the Libyan population in just a day. Russian doctors in Libya were eyewitnesses to NATO’s war crimes, including the bombing of residential areas and hospitals. In the city of Zliten, in the district of Misurata, 85 people were killed, including 33 children, 32 women and 20 men as a result of NATO bombing. (Read NATO commits war crimes in Libya: Women and children murdered)

The so called opposition protesters to Gaddafi’s rule were linked to the West either through financial military aid or political ties, a crucial factor which accounts for the protesters for the entire so called ‘Arab Uprising’. (Read The West’s battle for Libya’s oil)

Following Gaddafi’s murder at the hands of NATO-backed rebels in October 2011, western powers could not even disguise their blatant greed at the “Friends of Libya” conference held in Paris where the U.S., and its allies divided Libya’s vast oil resources between them. (Read The Western looting of Libya’s resources begins)

Furthermore, just like the lies leading up to the war in Iraq, an Amnesty International report revealed that there was no evidence of rape and human rights abuses committed by Gaddafi or his supporters to justify NATO’s actions. It was in fact the NATO-backed rebels who committed war crimes, including the ethnic cleansing against the black inhabitants of Libya. (Read Libya Update: No evidence of rape says Amnesty International)

In the Sudan as well, the U.S. and its allies have played a decisive role in splitting the country into two, dividing the mostly African Christian Southern Sudan and the Arab Muslim North, so that they can control the oil resources of that region. (Read How the West divided Sudan)

Same old western lies with Syria

Coincidentally, the U.S.’s military strategic aims are coming into fruition again as the western media promotes propaganda and lies to prepare the public for another ‘humanitarian intervention’.

Again, the mainstream western media is parroting the same script they used to justify the invasion of Libya. Thousands of civilians are said to be killed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s military forces.

In fact, according to Boris Dolgov, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow, who visited Syria recently, Syria has been subjected to vicious terrorist attacks since December last year from members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the same group aided by NATO in Libya as well as other Al Qaeda groups linked to the U.S. and its allies. When the Arab League sent observers into Syria, their report also contradicted the mainstream media’s assertions. They found that false reports of bombing and violence were being submitted, and areas they visited which supposedly had evidence of violence and killings proved to be false. They also found evidence of fraud in the list of names containing people held by the Syrian government.

They observed what they refer to as armed groups attacking the government forces using armour-piercing projectiles which contradicts the mainstream media claims that the protesters were peaceful.

The observers believed that their mission was deliberately sabotaged and their request to continue their mission to seek a peaceful resolution to the situation was denied by the Arab League Secretary-General, who instead pushed for regime change. According to author and economics professor, Michel Chossudovsky (Global Research: SYRIA: Who is Behind The Protest Movement? Fabricating a Pretext for a US-NATO “Humanitarian Intervention”: May 3, 2011), the Muslim Brotherhood and Hizb ut-Tahrir are said to be part of the protest movement in Syria. He also says that the Muslim Brotherhood’s leadership is in exile in the UK. A fantastic coincidence to say the least. Chossudovsky also says that Hizb ut-Tahrir has worked with British Secret Service MI6.

Chossudovsky believes that just as with Libya, the U.S. and its allies is engineering divisions in Syria along religious lines to cause a fracture from within thereby weakening Syria’s government.

It is that old divide and conquer trick which the West loves to play, as an MP who got in trouble for stating this fact not so long ago, said.

Syria and Iran are the two powers in the Middle East that continue to defy western imperialism. No doubt, the U.S. and its allies will continue to pursue complete dominance of the Middle East.

So we can expect more media lies, more exaggerated news footage of murdered civilians and an eventual invasion of both these countries in the near future.
